Dhaka: Two drug peddlers were detained with 25 kilograms of ganja in the capital's Shahbag. The detainees were identified as Md. Jamirul Mondal, 25, and Md. Mahmudullah, 25, said a media release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a team of DB, Mirpur Division, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid in the Chankharpur area of Shahbag on Wednesday and detained the duo with the ganja. Two mobile phones used for drug peddling were recovered from their possessions.
Police stated that the estimated value of the seized ganja is TK 5 lakh. During the initial interrogation, DB reported that the detainees confessed to being active members of a drug peddling ring and had kept the ganja in their custody for sale. Legal action is ongoing against them.
