Dhaka: Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today sought cooperation to stop load shedding during the month of Ramadan. He made the remarks during a view-exchange meeting with Muslim devotees at Kakrail Circuit House Mosque.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fouzul Kabir emphasized the need for collective efforts to alleviate the suffering caused by load shedding. He urged all parties involved to refrain from setting air conditioning temperatures below 25°C to prevent additional strain on the power grid.

‘A plan was taken to keep the country free from load shedding during the Ramadan. We have to monitor that households, shops, shopping malls, petrol pumps, and CNG stations should avoid unnecessary illumination and lightings,’ he added.

During the meeting, the adviser explained that load shedding is primarily due to the increased electricity demand during the summer and irrigation season, which can reach between 17,000-18,000 MW, compared to 9,000-10,000 MW in winter. In preparation for Ramadan, the government has been importing four cargoes of LPG to ensure a steady supply of electricity.
