Munier Choudhury Drama Festival Showcases District Artistes’ Performances at Shilpakala

Dhaka: The first Munier Choudhury National Drama Festival 2025 is currently underway at the Shilpakala Academy, featuring district-level artistes performing popular dramas. This eight-day multilingual festival, which began on February 21, is set to conclude next Friday.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 16 selected dramas are being performed by artistes from eight divisions. The festival is organized by the Training Wing of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at the Jatiya Nattya Shala. Bogura District Shilpakala Academy recently staged ‘Inqilab,’ written and directed by Tarek Tashhad, while Moulvibazar District Shilpakala Academy presented Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Balmiki Pratibha,’ directed by Noor-e-Nazneen.



The festival continues with Habiganj District Shilpakala Academy’s performance of ‘Kabar Kimba Smshaner Golpo,’ written and directed by Shaheen Rahman, scheduled for 7 pm tomorrow. Following this, Barisal District Shilpakala Academy will stage ‘Mayajal,’ a play written and directed by Apurba Gomosta Wrik, at 8 pm.



The festival will conclude with a closing ceremony on Friday evening. On the final day, Khulna District Shilpakala artistes will perform ‘Borabhoy,’ written and directed by Tanvir Nahid Khan, at 7 pm. The event will culminate with the staging of ‘Chaingja Khrang (Fictional)’ by Bandarban District Shilpakala Academy at 8 pm.
