Quality Education, Research to Enrich Begum Rokeya University: VC

Rangpur: Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali has highlighted the pivotal role of quality education and research activities in enhancing the stature of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR). “To achieve this goal, it is very necessary for students to acquire skills in research activities along with academic studies,” he emphasized during his virtual address at a seminar titled ‘Japan Foundation Indo-Pacific Partnership Program Fellowship,’ held in the university’s Academic Building-2.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university, with assistance from the Japan Foundation, organized the seminar. It attracted participation from teachers and students across various departments of the university. The Vice-chancellor extended his gratitude to the Japan Foundation for facilitating the seminar at Begum Rokeya University.



Dr. Ali also mentioned that the university administration has introduced several co-curricular activities, including English Language, German Language, and Basic Computer courses, aimed at enhancing the skill sets of students. He expressed optimism that these initiatives would support the research endeavors of students and assist them in pursuing higher education abroad.



He further addressed the audience, stressing that developing research skills would contribute to elevating the university’s rankings, along with those of the individual departments. The seminar was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Tajul Islam, Director of the IQAC of BRUR, and featured Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, as a special guest.



Guest speakers included Mr. Koji Sato, Director General (South Asia) of the Japan Foundation, and Professor Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Executive Director of Pan-Asia Research Institute in Tokyo and Faculty Member of the University of Dhaka.
