4 Robbers Arrested with Local Weapons in Cumilla

Cumilla: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested four robbers with drugs and country-made weapons from the Dharmapur Railway Station area under Adarsha Sadar upazila of the district today. Lieutenant Commander Mahmudul Hasan, company commander of RAB-11 CPC-2 (Cumilla), stated that due to the recent increase of crimes such as theft and robbery in the district, RAB increased their detective surveillance.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a team from the elite force conducted a special operation in the Dharmapur Railway Station area this morning, leading to the arrest of four robbers. The suspects, identified as Ashiq, 32, Jamil Hossain, 19, Md. Jisan, 19, and Asifur Rahman Asif, 22, are residents of different areas within the district.



These individuals are alleged to be active members of a robbery gang. Their modus operandi involved taking passengers hostage at gunpoint and then disembarking the train after seizing valuables, including cash, from them. Furthermore, Mahmudul Hasan noted that the group engaged in terrorist activities by using domestic weapons to instill fear among the local populace.



There were multiple cases pending against the arrested individuals across various police stations. Following their apprehension, they were handed over to Kotwali Model Police Station for further legal proceedings.
