National-level Primary School Football Tournament Kicks Off in Mirpur

Mirpur: The national level competition of the Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament began at the Mirpur National Bangla High School ground today. Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Abu Taher Md Masud Rana formally inaugurated the tournament, as mentioned in a press release.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 16 teams, comprising eight boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams, have emerged as champions from their respective divisions across the country to participate in the national level tournament. The final matches for both boys and girls will be held at the National Stadium in Dhaka on February 27.

The girls’ teams competing at the national level include Trepiganj Government Primary School from Debiganj Upazila in Panchagarh District (Rangpur Division), Jorgachha Government Primary School from Santhia Upazila in Pabna District (Rajshahi Division), and Doharo Government Primary School from Shailkupa Upazila in Jhenaidah District (Khulna Division). Other participants
include Tholanarpar Government Primary School from Maksudpur Upazila in Gopalganj District (Dhaka Division), TTDC Government Primary School from Mehendiganj Upazila in Barisal District (Barisal Division), 37 No Shahjalal Government Primary School from Jaintapur Upazila in Sylhet District (Sylhet Division), Bancharampur Model Government Primary School from Bancharampur Upazila in Brahmanbaria District (Chattogram Division), and Ishwarganj Government Primary School from Ishwarganj Upazila in Mymensingh District (Mymensingh Division).

In the boys’ group, the competing teams include Kurigram Government Primary School from Kurigram Sadar (Rangpur Division), Shiroil Colony Government Primary School from Boalia in Rajshahi District (Rajshahi Division), and Dewara Anta Bunia Government Primary School from Koyra Upazila in Khulna District (Khulna Division). Additional participants are Matikata Government Primary School from Bhuapur Upazila in Tangail District (Dhaka Division), Bankerhat Government Primary School from
Bhola Sadar (Barisal Division), Ichchaghari Government Primary School from Sunamganj Sadar (Sylhet Division), Koyarbil Government Primary School from Kutubdia Upazila in Cox’s Bazar District (Chittagong Division), and Trishal Government Primary School from Trishal Upazila in Mymensingh District (Mymensingh Division).

The tournament features participation from boys and girls teams hailing from 65,354 government primary schools nationwide.
