Dhaka: The city is set to host the second edition of the Embassy Cricket Carnival 2025, a two-day tournament featuring teams from over 14 embassies, high commissions, and international organizations, including the host nation. Organized by GamePlay, the tournament will kick off tomorrow (Friday) at the Bashundhara Sports Complex located in the Bashundhara residential area, as announced in a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the opening ceremony will be inaugurated by Additional Foreign Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam. The closing ceremony and award distribution are scheduled for Saturday (Feb 15) at 4 pm, with Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin attending as the chief guest. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Game Play hosted a joint press conference at The Westin today (Thursday) to unveil the tournament trophy.
A.F.M. Zahid-Ul-Islam, Director General of North America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are very happy to host the 2nd Embassy Cricket Carnival. Such tournaments help to boost inter-relations among countries.” Maksum-Ul-Hossain, CEO of Game Play, emphasized the event’s importance, saying, “We are working towards the motto of soft diplomacy. Embassy Football and Embassy Cricket help us achieve this motto because we’ve seen a huge interest of embassies and high commissions to take part in this prestigious event.”
The Westin Hotel is serving as the hospitality partner for the tournament. The program was moderated by Faisal Titumir, chairman of Game Play.
