Dhaka: Adviser for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Youth and Sports Asif Mahmud Sojib Bhuiyan has stated that supporters of the fascist ruler cannot deny their misdeeds as the atrocities during the July Uprising and their torture cell Aynaghar have been documented both locally and internationally. ‘We have visited the mysterious Aynaghar yesterday and let the world perceive what had been happening there. World has seen the realities, yet the supporters of fascism are shamelessly denying the facts. But denying the facts won’t be fruitful this time because their atrocities during the July Uprising have been documented and published,’ he said. He made these remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of Dhaka University’s ‘Youth Festival 2025’ at the university central playground.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser highlighted the significance of documenting the July atrocities and Aynaghar, asserting that the fascist forces, who held onto power through crimes such as killing and enforced disappearances, will be permanently viewed as enemies of the common masses both nationally and internationally. He emphasized the role of youth in reconstructing Bangladesh and mentioned that the youth festival is being observed across the country, with young people participating enthusiastically.
The adviser noted that the program was designed to organize youth and showcase their abilities and power globally. He praised the contribution of youths during the July Uprising, stating they served as the driving forces in the movement and continue to defuse conspiracies. He expressed confidence that if the youth remain active, it will be impossible to mislead Bangladesh.
DU vice chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan chaired the event, while youth and sports secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Zahedi attended as the special guest. The adviser distributed prizes among winners of various competitions, including drawing, case solving, debate, and chess.
The three-day Youth Festival of DU concludes tonight with a concert by national award-winning rock icon Faruq Mahfuz Anam James, popularly known as ‘Nagarbaul James’. Prof. Jashim Uddin, the convener of DU Youth Fest, expressed gratitude to the participants and organizers of the festival.
