Khulna: Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has announced a series of strategic measures aimed at making Khulna city safer by improving law and order and combating crime. KMP Commissioner Zulfikar Ali Haider shared the future plan during a press briefing at the KMP Headquarters, highlighting ongoing anti-crime efforts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the commissioner emphasized the importance of community engagement to reduce crime rates. KMP plans to hold view-sharing meetings with various community members to raise public awareness and encourage active participation in crime prevention.
In addition to community outreach, the police will establish joint check-posts at strategic locations and conduct special operations in high-crime areas from afternoon until 10 pm. Commissioner Haider also announced a bounty for the immediate apprehension of 12 top-listed criminals.
The police department intends to distribute 'awareness cards' to citizens, promoting vigilance about personal safety. Furthermore, they aim to motivate residents to install CCTV cameras and provide training for easy bike drivers to enhance public safety.
Commissioner Haider acknowledged challenges such as efficiency and professional deficiencies within the police force and the need for better law adherence among the public. Additionally, he pointed out the poor condition of some roads as a hurdle to achieving the goal of a secure city.
