Chattogram: After their epic victory in the last match, which ended a six-match losing streak, Dhaka Capitals are eager to maintain their winning momentum as they move to Chattogram, according to opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim. In the Chattogram phase, Dhaka is set to play three matches, beginning with a game against Fortune Barishal tomorrow at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka secured a resounding 149-run victory over Durbar Rajshahi, achieving a BPL high score of 254-1 in their previous match, thanks to remarkable centuries by Liton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim. "We want to carry the momentum after getting a big win in the last match," said Tanzid, who scored an impressive 108 off 64 balls, complementing Liton Das' record-breaking 125 not out off 55 balls.
While Tanzid is optimistic about maintaining the momentum, Dhaka faces a challenging task ahead, as their opponents, Barishal, are not only the defending champions but also a formidable side. However, the remarkable performance in the last match has instilled a sense of belief that Dhaka could achieve something significant.
"There will be pressure whenever you go to play any match," Tanzid stated. "Whoever can handle the pressure and stay as relaxed as much as possible, they will emerge as winner. So we will try to be as steady as we can to give ourselves a chance." He emphasized the importance of treating tomorrow's match as just another game to avoid pressure and focus on their best performance.
Tanzid also expressed his desire to carry his form into the next match, highlighting the importance of playing well during the powerplay. Reflecting on his previous innings, he said, "In the previous few innings, I started well but could not carry on. Then I realized that if I can use the power play well and then give myself some time, it will fetch me good result. That is what I tried in the last match and I thrived in. I will try to play the next matches with the same plan."
In his previous innings, Tanzid struck eight sixes, some of which would have been regarded as big sixes on any ground globally. He revealed his approach to hitting sixes, noting, "There is no secret to hitting sixes. I always try to play according to the merit. If it's my zone, I will definitely try to dispatch it out of the park."
