DHAKA: A recent report by Indian media outlet Zeenews alleging involvement of Professor Muhammad Yunus in an operation termed “Operation Octopus” in Bangladesh has been categorically dismissed as “false and fabricated” by the chief adviser’s press wing.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CA press wing made an official statement on its verified Facebook page, CA Press Wing Facts, denouncing the Zeenews report as part of a deliberate propaganda effort aimed at undermining the interim government led by Professor Yunus. The statement urged the public and media to disregard the claims, emphasizing that the narrative was constructed with intentions to destabilize Bangladesh.

The statement further highlighted that upon taking charge of the interim government, Chief Adviser Professor Yunus extended an invitation to Indian media to visit Bangladesh and report directly from the ground. Despite this openness, the press wing noted with disappointment that some respected Indian media outlets chose not to engage with the invitation, opting instead to produce stories based on anonymous sources.
