DHAKA: The High Court issued a directive to the Election Commission to grant registration to the Bangladesh Development Party (BDP) as a political entity. The decision was delivered by a High Court bench consisting of Justice Shashanka Shekhar Sarkar and Justice AKM Rabiul Hassan. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the order was the result of a writ petition filed by AKM Anwarul Islam, the chairman of the BDP. Islam had submitted the necessary documentation to the Election Commission on October 26, 2022, seeking official registration for the BDP. The legal proceedings were represented by Barrister Ehsan Abdullah Siddiqui, who advocated on behalf of the petitioner.
