DHAKA: Bangladesh and Denmark have formalized a significant financial agreement to bolster various development initiatives in Bangladesh. The two countries signed a grant-based amendment framework agreement at the Economic Relations Division (ERD) in Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area, approving a grant worth 35 million Danish Krone, approximately Tk 59 crore. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agreement was signed by ERD Secretary Md. Shahriar Kader Siddiky and the Ambassador of the Royal Danish Embassy in Dhaka, Christian Brix Moller. The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of senior officials from both the ERD and the Danish Embassy, highlighting the importance of the bilateral cooperation. The grant from Denmark is intended to support interventions in human rights, democracy, and good governance, aligning with Bangladesh's reform agenda. This agreement marks another chapter in the 52-year history of cooperation between the two nations, during which Denmark has consistently supported Banglad esh in various sectors, including agriculture, water and sanitation, transport, climate change, human rights, and governance. In addition to humanitarian aid and development support, Denmark is actively engaged in commercial activities in Bangladesh via the Trade Council, further cementing the multifaceted relationship between the two countries.
