DHAKA: A court in Dhaka has ordered the seizure of the income tax file of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. The decision was made by Acting Judge Md Ibrahim Miah of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, following a request by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the plea was filed by ACC deputy director Md Jahangir Alam, with public prosecutor Salauddin Iskander representing the anti-graft body. This move follows a travel ban imposed by the court on September 1 on Kamal, his wife Lutful Tahmina Khan, daughter Safia Tasnim Khan, and seven others. The ACC has filed five cases against Kamal and four others, accusing them of illegally amassing wealth amounting to Taka 79 crore. In addition to the travel ban, nine bank accounts belonging to the former home minister were frozen after the cases were filed. The court's recent order to seize Kamal's income tax file is part of ongoing investigations into these allegations of corruption.
