Dhaka: Students of Dhaka University protested the attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India today. Leaders and workers of the Anti-Discrimination student movement and Inqilab Mancha initiated a protest procession from the Hall Para area around 9:30 pm. The procession concluded at the Raju Memorial Sculpture with a brief rally, having passed through key points of the campus. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, student leaders addressing the rally demanded an official apology from India over the incident. They stated that a civilized country should never conduct such attacks on a diplomatic mission, emphasizing that India must formally apologize to Bangladesh for this occurrence. "We have one identity, we are Bangladeshis. We are united in protecting the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh," asserted Joy Pal, a student of Dhaka University. Mahin Sarkar, Coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, expressed, "We want to tell India that the Awami League is n o longer in power. So they should not try to dominate like a ruling party as they did before." He further added, "We fought against British rule, we fought against Pakistan's discriminatory policy. We are ready to fight again for the country. We will not accept Indian domination until we have a drop of blood in our body." Earlier in the evening, Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, called for the demonstration in a post on his verified Facebook profile. The attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission occurred this noon, coinciding with a massive rally in the Tripura capital where thousands gathered to protest the arrest of ISCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das.
