Prof Khan Sarwar Murshid Fondly Remembered at DU.

Dhaka: A commemoration meeting titled 'Khan Sarwar Murshid: a centenary celebration' was held at Dhaka University (DU) campus commemorating the birth centenary of DU English department's late Professor Murshid. Women and Children Affairs Ministry Adviser and late professor Khan's daughter, Sharmeen S Murshid, addressed the event as the chief guest, while DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan spoke as the 'Guest of Honour' at the programme held at the university's RC Majumdar Auditorium. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme was chaired by the English department chairperson, Professor Zerin Alam, and also featured an address by Dr. Tazin Murshid. Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed paid deep tributes to the memory of the late Professor Murshid, stating, "Professor Murshid was a multi-talented and enlightened person in the true sense. He was an educationist, administrator, diplomat, writer, translator, and a virtuous person." Highlighting the impact of Professor Murshid's work, the Vice-Chan cellor further added, "The esteemed professor has influenced our national life in many ways through his intellectual contributions in the social, political, and educational sectors." Professor Khan Sarwar Murshid began his academic career at Dhaka University in 1948 as a lecturer in the English Department and later served as the Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University from 1972 to 1974.
