Dhaka: A court here today acquitted BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain of charges in a graft case filed with the capital's Ramna Model Police Station in 2008. Judge Md Manjurul Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court-8 pronounced the judgment in presence of Dr. Mosharraf as the charges framed against him were not proved. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case on January 10, 2008, accusing Dr. Mosharraf of amassing illegal wealth and concealing information regarding his properties. The anti-graft body subsequently filed a charge-sheet on September 17, 2008. The verdict comes as a significant development in the long-standing legal proceedings involving the BNP leader. The court's decision to acquit Dr. Mosharraf highlights the failure of the prosecution to substantiate the allegations of illicit asset accumulation and information concealment made against him.
