Dhaka: Renowned Pakistani musician Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is set to perform a charity concert titled 'Echoes of Revolution' at the Army Stadium in Dhaka on December 21. The event aims to raise funds for the Shaheed July Smrity Foundation, which supports the families of martyrs and those injured during the July uprising, as announced by the organizers during a press conference at Madhu's canteen of Dhaka University. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the concert is organized by 'Spirits of July' in collaboration with 'Shaheed July Smrity Foundation' and supported by Prime Bank. The event will also feature performances by bands Artcell, Chirkutt, Ashes, Aftermath, along with rap artists Sezan and Hannan. The organizers expressed their commitment to showing solidarity with the families of the martyrs and those affected by the July Uprising through this concert. All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Shaheed July Smrity Foundation, dedicated to assisting families impacted by the uprising. Spi rits of July and the Shaheed July Smrity Foundation formalized this initiative by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on November 12. On November 28, a contract was secured with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who has agreed to perform free of charge, enabling all ticket sales proceeds to benefit the affected families. To ensure transparency and accountability in handling financial matters related to the event, an advisory board comprised of Dhaka University faculty and notable figures has been established. Several board members attended the press conference, where DU students Hasan Mahmud Rizvi, Sadekur Rahman Sunny, Md Jafor Ali, and Wahid-Uz-Zaman presented a written statement. The press conference was also attended by Prime Bank Deputy Managing Director Md Ziaur Rahman and concert advisers, including DU Sir A. F. Rahman Hall Provost Dr. Mahfujul Hoque Supan, Institute of Modern Languages Professor Dr. Ansarul Alam, Sociology Associate Professor Mohammad Mahbub Kaiser, and DU Journalist's Association Presi dent Mohiuddin Muzahid Mahi. In addition to the concert, the event will feature a graffiti exhibition reflecting the July Revolution and an installment of Mugdha Water Zone. Tickets for the concert are expected to go on sale in early December, with three categories of tickets available, though pricing details have yet to be finalized.
