Dhaka: Amar Desh Acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman today emphasized the urgent need to eradicate the root of fascism from key state positions during a discussion held at Dhaka University's RC Majumder auditorium. He highlighted that fascist elements remain active and deeply entrenched across the country, posing a threat to various state organs if not addressed promptly. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahmudur Rahman was speaking at a photo exhibition and discussion on the July mass uprising, organized by the Swadhinota Sarbabhaumatta Rakkha Committee. He expressed his concern over the recent landslide victory of Awami League supporters in an election within Bangladesh Bank. Rahman questioned how individuals associated with fascism and bank looting continue to operate within the institution, even three months after the mass uprising. Rahman further criticized the decision to hold the election without a prior cleanup campaign, questioning the urgency behind the move. He urged students to actively parti cipate in the fight against fascism and Indian hegemony, emphasizing the need for unity and willingness to make sacrifices for the state's welfare. Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, Joint Member Secretary of the Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party, encouraged the youth to explore the true history and roots of the nation. He criticized the Indian narrative that suggests Bangladesh's national identity emerged solely from the nine-month war in 1971, instead pointing to the region's rich history spanning hundreds of years. Other speakers at the event included Prof Dr Md Atiur Rahman, a child specialist from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Rezaul Karim Rony, Editor of Jaban Magazine, and Swadhinota Sarbabhaumatta Rakkha Committee President Syed Ahmed Sarker and General Secretary Minhaz Uddin, all of whom addressed the gathering.
