Khulna: A seven-day book fair will begin on the Divisional Commissioner's office premises in Khulna city on November 26. Aiming to foster a habit of reading among the general populace, the government has decided to organize divisional level book fairs across the country. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the National Public Library will organize the fair in association with the Khulna Divisional Commissioner's office. The Khulna Divisional Commissioner's office conducted a press briefing at its conference room to announce the event. Divisional Commissioner Md. Helal Mahmud Sharif emphasized the role of reading in building responsible citizens, stating that books can uplift individuals from moral degradation and combat social issues like dishonesty. He encouraged all book enthusiasts to attend the fair. The press briefing was attended by Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md Hussain Showkot and Deputy Director of the Divisional Public Library Mohammad Ha midur Rahman. The book fair will feature approximately 80 stalls, with 60 stalls allocated for publishers from Dhaka, 10 for the districts of Khulna division, six for government entities, two for law enforcement agencies, and the remaining stalls for food, refreshments, poets, writers, and a media corner. Additionally, a series of seminars, cultural programs, and quiz competitions for children will be held daily. The fair will be open from 3:00 PM to 9:30 PM, extending from 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM on holidays. To ensure security, police and other law enforcement agencies will be deployed, and close circuit (CC) cameras will be installed to make the event a success.
