Armed Forces Day Commemorated at Rangpur Cantonment.

RANGPUR: The Armed Forces Day-2024 was celebrated at Rangpur Cantonment today, commemorating the historic combined attack by the Bangladesh Armed Forces on this day in 1971, which accelerated the nation's Liberation War. This significant day marks the collaboration of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, leading to the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh achieved on December 16, 1971, as stated in a press release issued this evening. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Rangpur Area of Bangladesh Army organized colorful programs to honor the memories of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the War of Liberation. The event was attended by heroic freedom fighters from across the Rangpur division, family members of martyred freedom fighters, military and civil officials, former members of the Armed Forces, local personalities, students, and journalists. Major General Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 66 Infantry Division and Rangpur Area Commander, welcomed the g uests and acknowledged the courage and contributions of the Rangpur people during the Liberation War. He expressed profound respect for the heroic freedom fighters and conveyed gratitude to their families and all attendees for making the event successful. The GOC also highlighted the Armed Forces' role in supporting the nation during crises, managing natural disasters, combating terrorism in the Chattogram Hill Tracts, assisting civil administrations, and contributing to nation-building activities. Additionally, he noted the Armed Forces' significant contributions to enhancing Bangladesh's image globally through dedicated service in United Nations peacekeeping missions.
