Dhaka: A court here today placed former Bhola-4 lawmaker Abdullah Al Islam Jakob on a three-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of one Shamim Hawlader in the capital's Rupnagar area during the July-August mass uprising. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Imran Ahammed passed the order as police produced Jakob before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand in the case filed with the Rupnagar Police Station. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Abdullah Al Islam Jakob was arrested from the capital's Gulshan area on October 1. The arrest is connected to the shooting of Shamim Hawlader, who was shot on July 20 in the Probeshika intersection area under Rupnagar Police Station in the capital. Shamim succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, prompting his cousin Samrat to file a case related to the incident. The court's decision to grant a three-day remand allows law enforcement to further investigate Jakob's involvement in the murder. The authorities initially requested a 10-day remand, indic ating the complexity and seriousness of the case. The investigation continues as the police seek to uncover more details surrounding the murder of Shamim Hawlader during the political unrest.
