Dhaka: Finance Adviser to the interim government Dr Salehuddin Ahmed announced today that the Artha Rin Adalat would see increased activation to expedite the process of realizing classified loans, also known as Non Performing Loans (NPLs). The initiative aims to address the ongoing challenges related to loan recovery and is part of a broader strategy to stabilize the financial sector. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Salehuddin emphasized that measures would be implemented to swiftly resolve writ petitions pending with the High Court in this regard. He made these remarks during a press conference held at the Finance Ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat. The Finance Adviser highlighted that there are currently two separate benches in the High Court designated to handle these writ petitions. He has already engaged in discussions with the Attorney General of Bangladesh and the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, urging that these benches prioritize the writ petitions over the next three months. Financial In stitutions Division Secretary Nazma Mobarek also addressed the conference, stating that actions would soon be undertaken to fully restore trust and confidence among bank clients. The press conference was attended by key financial officials, including Finance Division Secretary Dr Khairuzzaman Mozumder, NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan, and ERD Secretary Shahriar Kader Siddiky.
