Manikganj: The harvesting of Aman rice is in full swing across all seven upazilas of Manikganj district, with expectations of a bumper production this season. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) had set a target to produce 71,712 metric tonnes of clean rice from 18,500 hectares of land during the current Aman season. The official sources revealed that last year, a total of 11,462 hectares of land were dedicated to Aman farming across the district's upazilas. For the current season, 18,000 hectares have been allocated for hybrid Aman cultivation, while 500 hectares are reserved for local varieties. This strategic allocation is aimed at maximizing the yield and ensuring a substantial rice production to meet the district's needs.
