Dhaka: As part of regular mosquito control activities, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has conducted combing operations at 530 educational institutions in the last two days. Under the title ‘Special Cleaning and Mosquito Eradication (Bishesh Porishkar- Porichchonnota O Moshok Nidhon)’, the combing drives were held at the institutions in DSCC areas with the coordination of the health department and waste management department of the organization, a press release said here today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 873 workers and 530 cleaners from the waste management department participated in the operations conducted at 272 educational institutions today. In two days, a total of 2,709 workers and cleaners worked at 530 educational institutions, the release added.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to combat the spread of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes, particularly dengue. The DSCC’s efforts involved special larvicidal and adulticidal activities aimed at destroying breedi
ng grounds of Aedes mosquitoes around dengue patients’ residences. This proactive approach is intended to curb the population of mosquitoes, thereby reducing the risk of dengue outbreaks in the city.
