BARISAL: Agriculture adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today urged the agricultural scientists and farmers to work sincerely for restoring the lost glory of Barisal which was earlier well-known as granary of the country. Jahangir, also the home affairs adviser, made this call during a views-exchange meeting with agriculture officials at the local office of Agriculture Information Service in Barisal.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jahangir emphasized the need for collaboration between scientists and farmers to rejuvenate Barisal’s agricultural productivity. He expressed optimism that the food inflation will decrease by December, attributing this to the anticipated arrival of various local crops such as rice, winter vegetables, potatoes, and onions in the market.
The meeting was attended by several key officials, including the Divisional Commissioner of Barisal, Md Rayhan Kawsar, and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Delwar Hossain. These discussions are part of broader efforts to en
hance agricultural output and ensure food security in the region.
