Dinajpur: A total of 39,700 small and marginal farmers in 13 upazilas of the Dinajpur district will receive seeds and fertilizers at no cost as part of an agricultural incentive under the Incentive and Rehabilitation Programme for the cultivation of wheat, maize, mustard, onion, and sunflower during the Rabi season this year. This initiative aims to boost farmers' interest in these crops, as stated by the Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) of the district, Md. Nuruzzaman Mia. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incentive support has been significantly increased in the district to encourage farmers in Rabi crop cultivation. The Livestock Officer of Hakimpur upazila, Md. Shafiul Islam, inaugurated the distribution event as the chief guest. The function was held in the hall room of the DAE office in the upazila, with marginal farmer Amit Roy presiding over the event. The event also saw participation from DAE Officer Md. Mesbahul Rahman, Upazila Rural Development Officer Md. Golam Rabbani, and Hakimpur Press Club President Md. Zahidul Islam Zahid, who spoke as special guests. In Hakimpur upazila, various distributions were made, including one kilogram of high-yielding mustard seeds, 10 kilograms of DAP, and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer to each of 1,800 farmers. Additionally, 20 kilograms of wheat seeds, 10 kilograms of DAP, and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer were distributed to 70 farmers. Further distributions in Hakimpur included two kilograms of maize, 20 kilograms of DAP, and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer to 300 farmers. Sunflower seed distribution included one kilogram of seeds, 10 kilograms of DAP, and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer to 20 farmers. Similarly, one kilogram of winter onion seeds, 10 kilograms of DAP, and 10 kilograms of MP fertilizer were distributed to 20 farmers. The remaining farmers are expected to receive their seeds and fertilizers shortly, as reported by the sources.
