Mirpur: One more national record has been set on the third day of the Max Group 33rd National Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo Competition held at the Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex in Mirpur. Bangladesh Navy's team, consisting of Kajal Mia, Asif Reza, Mahmudunobi, and Samiul Islam Rafi, established a new national mark in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay by clocking 08:00.51, surpassing their previous record of 08:06.01. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 10 events were held on the third day, with Bangladesh Navy continuing to lead the medal tally. They have secured 24 gold, 19 silver, and 9 bronze medals. Bangladesh Army is trailing behind with 8 gold, 13 silver, and 18 bronze medals. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan has claimed five bronze medals, and Bangladesh Air Force has garnered one bronze medal. The competition also featured events in men's diving and water polo. In the water polo event, Bangladesh Army emerged as champions, while Bangladesh Navy became the runners-up, and Bangladesh Air Force secured the third position. A total of 550 male and female swimmers from 52 teams, including various services, divisional sports associations, district sports associations, clubs, and BKSP, are participating in 38 disciplines of the four-day meet, which will conclude tomorrow. Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, the Chief of Naval Staff and president of the Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF), is expected to attend the closing ceremony as the chief guest and will distribute the prizes. The BSF senior vice president, engineer Golam Mohammad Alomgir, will preside over the closing ceremony.
