DHAKA: Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has redistributed portfolios of seven advisers, hours after three new faces were inducted into the council of advisers, according to a gazette notification issued by the Cabinet Division at early hours today. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sheikh Bashir Uddin has been appointed as the Adviser for the Commerce Ministry as well as the Jute and Textile Ministry, while Mostofa Sarowar Farooki has been assigned the Cultural Affairs Ministry among the new entrants. However, the newly appointed Mahfuj Alam did not receive any ministry. Prof Yunus will continue to oversee the Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces Division, and the Ministry of Public Administration. In a significant change, Yunus has transferred the Ministry of Food to Ali Imam Majmudar, who was previously attached to the Chief Adviser's Office. Additionally, the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry has been assigned to Hassan Ariff, who will also retain his responsibil ities for the Land Ministry. Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has been shifted to the portfolio of the LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry, replacing Hasan Ariff, and will continue to oversee the Youth and Sports Ministry. Meanwhile, the current Shipping Adviser, Brigadier General (Rtd.) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain, has been given the additional responsibility of the Labour and Employment Ministry, a role previously held by Asif Mahmud. Salehuddin Ahmed will now focus solely on the Finance Ministry, as Sheikh Bashir Uddin assumes the role of Commerce Adviser, in addition to managing the Jute and Textile Ministry previously under Sakhawat Hussain's charge. Prof Asif Nazrul, who was handling three ministries, will now concentrate on the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, and the Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry, with Farooki taking over the Cultural Affairs Ministry.
