Investors Urged to Invest in Bangladesh’s Marine and Offshore Industry.

Dhaka: Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping Brigadier General (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain today urged local and foreign investors to invest in the country’s maritime and offshore industry to tap huge opportunities of the sector. He made the call while inaugurating the 6th edition of the International Exhibition titled ‘Bangladesh International Marine and Offshore Expo (BIMOX 2024)’ at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the city, as mentioned in a press release.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Savor International Limited organized the exhibition to demonstrate new innovations, technologies, materials, equipment, and methods in relevant sectors, providing a platform for participants, organizations, and patrons. Dr. Sakhawat highlighted Bangladesh’s unique potential in the maritime industry, emphasizing the country’s large bay, abundant labor force, and numerous river and sea ports. He stressed the industry’s significant opportunities and encouraged investment, stating, “We will
welcome all investors here.”

The advisor further noted Bangladesh’s potential to become a prominent shipbuilding nation, urging collaboration among experts and stakeholders to foster industry growth. Transparency within the sector was also underscored. Distinguished guests at the event included Rear Admiral Khandakar Akhter Hossain, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (M), Bangladesh Navy; Christian Brix Moller, Ambassador of the Royal Danish Embassy in Dhaka; and André Carstens, Head of Mission of Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Dhaka.

The exhibition, running until November 09, 2024, is open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. It features companies from 15 countries, including Bangladesh, showcasing their products, technologies, and services across more than 180 booths, drawing a large number of visitors eager to experience the event.
