Dhaka: Stock markets today finished the session of the week flat as the major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges showed no significant rise amid lower activities of large-cap securities. The benchmark index of the Dhaka bourse closed the day with 17.93 points down at 5,347.08. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 0.01 point down at 1,967.75. However, the Shariah DSES index closed the day with a slight increase of 0.99 point, finishing at 1,192.57. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, out of 399 issues traded, 281 closed lower, 85 advanced, and 33 issues remained unchanged on the DSE floor. ORIONPHARM topped the turnover chart, followed by BSC, ISLAMIBANK, PADMAOIIL, and FEKDIL. ORIONPHARM emerged as the day's top gainer, posting a 9.83 percent increase, while 1STPRIMFMF was the worst performer, losing 5.96 percent. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day with a downward trend, with its major CASPI index down by 2.69 points, ending at 14,879.24. At CSE, a tot al of 207 issues were traded. Among these, 80 closed higher, and 104 closed lower, with 2.37 million shares worth Taka 52.13 crore changing hands.
