Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy today accused miscreants of attempting to destabilize the country. He expressed confidence that peace would be established if a government elected by the people assumes power. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Gayeshwar made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a conference of the Baghair 7 No. ward BNP unit under Teghoria Union in South Keraniganj. He urged the current government to organize elections promptly, emphasizing that any delay was unacceptable. "We will remain in the street until the demand of the people is met," he asserted, highlighting the ongoing commitment to the cause. Gayeshwar recalled the massive July-August mass uprising of students and citizens, which he described as a pivotal moment in the 17-year struggle against what he termed as the fascist Awami League government. He credited this movement for freeing the country from the ruling party's grip. The conference was attende d by several prominent BNP figures, including Dhaka district BNP general secretary and South Keraniganj Thana BNP President Advocate Nipun Roy Chowdhury, South Keraniganj BNP vice-president Dr. Mosharraf Hossain, and Dhaka district Krishak Dal convenor Jewel Mollah. Other notable attendees were South Keraniganj Thana Juba Dal joint convenor Selim Molla, former Keraniganj Thana Chhatra Dal vice-president Ahfaq Ahmed Manic, former president of Teghoria Chhatra Dal Mahabub Alam Kazol, and BNP leader Raihan Mia. The meeting was presided over by Teghoria Union BNP's former president Khorshed Alam, who supported Gayeshwar's call for timely elections and reinforced the party's commitment to restoring democracy in the country.
