Dhaka: The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka today hosted a Presidential Election Watch Party at the American Center, providing an opportunity for Bangladeshi youth and participants to experience the U.S. electoral process firsthand. The event aimed to engage youth leaders and civil society members in discussions on the U.S. Presidential Election, its significance, and the influence of youth engagement on democracy. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event featured interactive activities, including a mock election where attendees voted for their favorite American sweets, as well as two panel discussions. Two speakers from the United States, including one Bangladeshi reporter, addressed the participants. Attendees also had the chance to watch live updates from the United States as election results began to unfold, providing a direct view of the event. "The U.S. electoral process is a testament to democracy in action," stated the US embassy's Chargé d'Affaires, Megan Bouldin. She emphasized the importance of e ngaging Bangladeshi youth in understanding democracy and the role of civic engagement. Bouldin expressed hope that the event would inspire future leaders in Bangladesh to recognize the power of their voices in shaping democratic processes. The watch party is part of the U.S. Embassy's initiative to strengthen cross-cultural ties and promote democratic values, as noted in the press release.
