Dhaka: Police on Monday arrested Molla Jalal, former President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), in connection with a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, police said. Jalal was apprehended from the city’s Segunbagicha area following a complaint lodged by a victim four days earlier at Shahbagh police station.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrest was conducted as part of an ongoing investigation into the allegations filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Following his arrest, Molla Jalal was promptly sent to jail, as confirmed by Shahbagh police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Khaled Mansur. The case against Jalal is currently under judicial consideration.
