Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Gias Uddin, BNP Sonagazi Upazila unit president. In a message of condolence, the BNP Secretary General highlighted Gias Uddin's dedication to the party, emphasizing his commitment to the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam. He noted that Gias Uddin played a pivotal role in establishing a strong foundation for the BNP in Sonagazi Upazila under Feni district by intensifying its activities. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Gias Uddin was a staunch supporter of Bangladeshi nationalism and actively participated in all democratic movements led by BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. His efforts aimed at securing the rights of common citizens. Mirza Fakhrul mentioned that the late Gias Uddin will continue to serve as an inspiration for BNP leaders and activists at the local level. The BNP Secretary General also offered prayers for the eternal peace of Gias Uddin's departed soul and extended his condolences to the bereaved family members. Gias Uddin, who was also a former Union Parishad Chairman, passed away tonight at the age of 60.
