Trump’s Comments on Bangladesh Part of Election Campaign: Khalid.

DHAKA: Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain stated today that allegations made by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump regarding the persecution of Hindu, Bouddha, and Christian communities in Bangladesh were part of his election campaign strategy. “Allegations made by Donald Trump on persecuting the Hindu, Bouddha and Christian community people were a part of his election campaign. Donald Trump made such allegations mainly to get vote and we don’t agree with him,” Khalid expressed while speaking to journalists after inaugurating the two-day ‘Sunnah Conference Bangladesh 2024.’

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Daffodil Centre of the Daffodil University organized the conference at Birulia in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital city. Khalid further emphasized that the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the USA would remain intact irrespective of the US presidential election’s outcome. “Misunderstandings between the two countries would be resolved through discussions. onald Trump was in power earlier and the relations between Bangladesh and the USA is very old,” he added.

Khalid also highlighted that the Hindu community in Bangladesh is thriving and recently celebrated their largest festival, the Durga Puja, without any issues, as the government ensured all necessary measures for their safety. “There is no bar on exercising their religious rituals. They (Hindu community) have placed some demands before the government, which are now under consideration at the high level of the government,” he noted.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Palestinian Ambassador to Bangladesh Yousef S Y Ramadan, Kushtia University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah, Islami Arabic University VC Prof Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Alam, and Daffodil University VC Prof Dr. M Lutfor Rahman.
