Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today urged the young people to make up their mind and dream to bring a positive change in the country. “I particularly encourage the young people to make up their mind, figure out and dream. Dream is the beginning of change. If you dream, it will happen. If you do not dream, it will never happen,” he said while addressing the members of NDC and AFWC course at his office in Tejgaon here. “Ask yourself – ‘what can I do for the world?’ Once you figure out what you want to do, you can get it done because you have that power,” Prof Yunus told the youths.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Yunus emphasized that the current young generation is the most powerful in human history, not just because they are smart, but because they have immense technology at their disposal. “If you look at the student revolution, it is all about technology. They (students) could communicate with each other very quickly. They did not have any command structure,” the chief advise
r remarked, likening technology to Aladin’s lamp. He further noted that the youth in the country aspire to see a new Bangladesh, driven not by political ambitions but by a desire to create a better nation for themselves.
Referring to the concept of global peace, the 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate highlighted the irony of violence committed in the name of peace. He stated, “…but we commit to ourselves every day, all our pronouncements and all our philosophies. We want peace. Peace inside the country, peace among the countries and peace globally.” Prof Yunus found it peculiar that governments around the world have defense ministries, which are essentially war ministries, but lack peace ministries. “If your aim is peace, should not you have a peace ministry?” he questioned, advocating for the establishment of both peace and war ministries within governments.
Prof Yunus also expressed concern over the self-destructive nature of modern civilization, pointing out how people are actively destroying the environment an
d the planet. “We have created a wrong civilization – self-destructive civilization,” he said, noting that everyday actions contribute to the degradation of the planet. In his address, he greeted the members of NDC and AFWC course and wished them success.
