Pirganj: A court here today sentenced two brothers to death sentence and another one to life-term imprisonment for murdering two men in Pirganj upazila of the district in 2018. Senior District and Sessions Judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir handed down the verdict to Harun Mondol and his brother Abdur Rashid alias Nannu Mondol. Both were the residents of Taherpur village under the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the convicts hacked Razzak Mondol and his brother Samsul Mondol and their nephew Rafiqul Islam by spade on July 28, 2018. After the incident, the trio was admitted to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex. Later, they were shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where Razzak Mondol was declared dead and Rafiqul Islam died under treatment.
Following the murder, Razzak Mondol’s daughter filed a case with Pirganj Thana accusing the trio. Police pressed the charge sheet later. Testifying witnesses and evidence, the court passed the order in presence of the convicts, said Public Prosecutor
