Jhenaidah: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu stated today that the people of the country would never forgive Sheikh Hasina for what he described as genocide intended to suppress a mass uprising. Speaking at a memorial meeting organized by the Jhenaidah district BNP to mark the second death anniversary of Moshiur Rahman, a veteran freedom fighter and former lawmaker, Dudu emphasized the need to remember the alleged misrule of Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League in building a new Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dudu criticized Sheikh Hasina’s governance, accusing her of committing genocide against the students-people movement and suggesting that the people would not pardon her actions. He argued that the politics of misrule would not prevail in the future, as the people are united against any form of oppression. He also asserted that the BNP, under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, would be brought to power by the people.

The memorial event, presided over
by Jhenaidah district unit BNP President Advocate MA Majid and conducted by general secretary Zahiduzzaman Mona, was attended by several BNP leaders, including central committee assistant organizing secretary Babu Joyonto Kumar Kundu and district BNP vice-president Munshi Kamal Azad Pannu. The meeting served as a platform for Dudu to urge BNP leaders and activists to assist the interim government in ensuring a free and fair election.

Dudu also strongly criticized Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his alleged actions against political opponents from 1972 to 1975, claiming that the Rakhhi Bahini had killed at least 40,000 people during that period. He accused Sheikh Hasina of harboring similar ambitions to remain in power indefinitely through violent means, akin to her father.

Moreover, Dudu accused Sheikh Hasina’s administration of being responsible for the enforced disappearances of thousands of political leaders and activists during her 16 years in power. He alleged that Hasina and her associates had accumulated w
ealth abroad by misappropriating public funds, referencing the construction of ‘Begum Para’ overseas.

Concluding his remarks, Dudu remembered Moshiur Rahman as a key figure in the development of modern Jhenaidah and called upon BNP members to remain united in support of Tarique Rahman’s leadership, urging them to work together to secure a victory in the upcoming elections.
