Preventing child marriage, polygamy underscored to build peaceful society

Speakers in a function here

underscored the need for checking child marriage, polygamy,

preventing drug trading, and human trafficking to bring

sustainable improvements to people’s lives.

People should come with a positive attitude to check child

marriage, polygamy, and human trafficking, apart from refraining

the youths from drug consumption and trading, they observed.

They made the comments while addressing an annual general

meeting of Balashi Jubo and Nari Kalyan Federation, formed by

the Sustained Opportunities for Nutrition Governance (SONGO)

project, being implemented by RDRS Bangladesh and Cord Aid

International with the financial support of the European Union.

RDRS arranged the meeting under SONGO Project on the ground

of MAU Academy under Fulchhari upazila in the district this

afternoon.

Local union parishad chairman Sohel Rana Salu addressed the

function as the chief guest, and upazila youth development officer

Tajul Islam spoke at the event as a special guest.

Head teacher of the
academy Raihan Sarker and renowned

freedom fighter Nizam Uddin addressed the function, among

others.

The speakers in their speeches underlined the need for rooting out

child marriage, polygamy and drug trading from society forever to

build a peaceful society, suggesting that they should be involved in

nutrition and income-generating activities to change their fate

economically.

UP chairman Sohel Rana Saluin, in his speech, highly lauded the

activities of the federation members and gave his commitment to

provide his support to help run the federation smoothly in the

coming days.

Earlier, upazila coordinator of SONGO Project Mahabubar

Rahman Herok welcomed the invited persons and gave them

thanks of vote for participating in the function.

Hundreds of members of the federation and journalists took part in

the meeting.
