Senior citizens deserve dignified life: Minister Acharya

Kathmandu: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Surendra Raj Acharya, has said government was committed to create favourable atmosphere for senior citizens to live dignified life.

Minister Acharya said it during a programme organized on the occasion of the Third National Senior Citizens Day here Wednesday. “Expertise, skills and experience of elderly are beneficial to entire nation. So, senior citizens deserve dignified life,” he underlined.

Ministry secretary Suman Raj Acharya viewed those violating the rights of senior citizens must be booked. He cautioned against misuse of social security allowance to the elderly people by the relatives.

Dr Anant Aryal of Kathmandu Medical College, presented a working paper at the programme, suggesting the old ones to practice yog and meditation, maintain balanced diet, and ensure good sleep.
