SANGSAD BHABAN, ‘Jatir Pita Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur

Rahman Science and Technology University, Narayanganj Bill, 2023′ was passed

today in the Jatiya Sangsad aiming to develop professional expertise in

science and technology education.

Deputy Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury on behalf of Education

Minister Dr Dipu Moni moved the bill which was unanimously passed by voice

votes in the House with Deputy Speaker Shamsul Huq Tuku in the chair.

Pir Fazlur Rahman of Sunamganj-4,Shamim Haider Patwary of Gaibandha-1, Hafiz

Uddin Ahmed of Thakurgaon-3, Rustum Ali Farazi of Pirojpur-3, Kazi Feroz

Rashid of Dhaka-6, discussed on the bill and their demand for further public

review was also rejected by the voice votes.

Now there are 54 public universities in the country. A proposed law has

already been approved in the cabinet to set up another public university in

Narayanganj.

So, the number of country’s public universities would be 56 with this

university.

Besides, there are 113 private universities in the country.

In addition to this, Satkhira Science and Technology University Bill, 2023

and Lakhipur Science and Technology University Bill, 2023 were also placed in

the Jatiya Sangsad earlier.
