SAVAR: Some 800 telephones of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) have remained out of service in Savar due to the snapping of its underground cable. Miscreants reportedly broke the lids of three BTCL manholes in the Savar area and cut 2400 and 3000 pairs of underground copper cables, leading to the disruption of services for important government and private telephone numbers, as stated in a BTCL media release today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the repair work has been delayed due to water accumulating in the manholes from sewerage lines and the slow process of obtaining necessary permissions from concerned authorities for road digging. This has hindered the swift restoration of telephone services.
BTCL authorities have expressed sincere regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to their valued customers. They have assured that the affected telephones will be operational within the next week, as efforts to address and rectify the issue are underway.
