Chattogram: Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested eight people on charges of vandalism in different areas in the city during Monday’s demonstrations, in protest against the Israeli massacre in Gaza, Palestine. CMP arrested 8 people in two days for attacking and vandalism in various restaurants, Bata Shoe room and other institutions during a protest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, earlier, a total of four cases were filed under the Special Powers Act in four separate police stations of the city in connection with these attacks and vandalism. Police raided various locations and are analyzing video footage to identify the suspects, it said.
Groups of unruly people vandalized and looted shops, restaurants, and shoe stores in Chawkbazar, Kotwali, GEC, Pnachliash area, and Khulshi during demonstrations on Monday, CMP Media wing sources said.
