RAJSHAHI A total of 75 dalit, horijon and bede
students living in the city areas were given sub-stipend worth around Taka
7.03 lakh for making their studentships uninterrupted.
The students included 50 of primary levels, 12 secondary, eight higher
secondary and five under-graduations.
Rajshahi City Office of the Department of Social Services (DSS)
disbursed the stipend at a function at City Bhaban conference hall here
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton attended and
addressed the distribution programme as chief guest with its Chief Executive
Officer Shawgatul Alam in the chair.
Panel Mayor Rajab Ali, Ward Councilor Abdul Momin, Secretary Abu Hayat
Rahmatullah and Social Service Officer Md Ashiquzzaman also spoke.
In his remarks, Mayor Liton said the present government under the
dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working for
improving living and livelihood condition of the underprivileged population.
He added that the government has been implementing various programmes
for educating the disadvantaged and underprivileged children.
Liton urged the stipend-recipients to become worthy citizens through
acquiring time-fitting knowledge after the best uses of the government
