Thakurgaon: BNP’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today emphasized the importance of the independence of 1971, stating that it forms the core of the nation’s existence and warned against efforts to obliterate it. He made these remarks while addressing an electoral campaign event organized by the Thakurgaon municipality Ward-6 unit of BNP.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul, who is also a candidate of the ‘sheaf of paddy’ in the Thakurgaon-1 constituency, highlighted that the independence of 1971 provided the country with a new identity and opportunities. He stressed the importance of this era in enabling progress and securing a future for the next generation.
Fakhrul expressed concern over a vested group attempting to undermine the significance of 1971, which he described as the nation’s core existence. He criticized efforts to mislead people through the misuse of religion and false propaganda, potentially complicating the decision-making process regarding voting rights.

sing the upcoming national polls, Mirza Fakhrul underscored the importance of elections held every five years, emphasizing that voting is a trust that should not be wasted. He urged that those elected should safeguard the trust of the people. The event was attended by district BNP leaders, activists, and local residents.
