Dhaka: Police arrested 71 people in separate special drives in the Jatrabari, Turag, Mohammadpur, Lalbagh, and Bangshal areas of the capital on Saturday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operations were conducted by different units of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). Jatrabari and Turag police were responsible for the arrest of 26 individuals, while Mohammadpur, Lalbagh, and Bangshal police took 45 people into custody.
In the Jatrabari area, police apprehended 16 individuals from various locations identified as crime-prone, while Turag police arrested 10 people during their operations. Meanwhile, Mohammadpur police conducted successful operations leading to the arrest of 32 individuals, Lalbagh police detained eight, and Bangshal police captured five suspects in their respective areas.
The arrested individuals include those accused in both regular and warrant cases, as well as others allegedly involved in criminal activities. Police have confirmed that legal action has been initiated against all those arrested.
