Dhaka: The 58-day fishing ban in the bay imposed by the government will start on April 15 aiming at proper breeding, production, preservation, and collection of marine fisheries.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fishing ban will be effective till June 11, as announced in a gazette notification by the fisheries and livestock ministry. The notification highlights that under the marine fisheries rules 2023, the government has set forth restrictions on catching all kinds of fish by all sorts of fishing vessels for a duration of 58 days, from April 15 to June 11. This annual measure is intended to ensure proper breeding, production, preservation, and sustainable collection of fish within the maritime zone of Bangladesh.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining the ecological balance and ensuring the longevity of marine resources. By restricting fishing activities during this critical breeding period, the government aims to enhance fish stocks and promote sustainable fishing practices in the region.
