Five people were killed and
another was injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Raikhali Bridge area of Arkan road under Boalkhali upazila of the district today.
Abdur Razzak, officer-in-Charge of Boalkhali thana, said four died on the spot while another died on the way to the hospital.
The deceased were identified as Md. Selim, 45, hailed from Mirapara under Boalkhali upazila, Anjana Akter, 35, hailed from Mirsarai upazila and Babul Dey, 60, and CNG deiver Abdul Karim, 54, both hailed from Patiya upazila of the district.
The identity of another unidentified youth aged about 25, could not be confirmed till filling of the report.
Police detained bus driver Jaker Hossain and also seized the two vehicles.
A case was filed with Boalkhali thana over the accident.
