Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 442 people in the capital over the past 24 hours as part of its regular anti-crime operations. Police also filed 29 cases during the period, according to a DMP statement released here today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests were made across the capital, with the highest number-133 reported by the Mirpur division, followed by 59 in Tejgaon, 56 in Motijheel, 50 in Wari, 50 in Uttara, 36 in Lalbagh, 32 in Ramna, and 23 in Gulshan division.
In addition to these arrests, the Detective Branch (DB) apprehended five individuals during the anti-crime drives, the DMP said. The operations also saw the seizure of 6,342 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, a locally-made revolver, four rounds of bullets, and cash amounting to Taka 3,400.
Legal proceedings against the arrested suspects are currently underway, as further stated in the DMP’s statement.
